Elvia Irene Burbano's farm El Chimbo is located in Buesaco, Nariño.This particular lot is Caturra grown at 2,050 meters. Whenever possible we are very happy to highlight and support the work of women in the coffee industry. Elvia has a small micro mill on her farm to process her own coffee, allowing for very careful attention to all aspects of this coffee's quality. We purchased this lot as part of a regional auction called 'Mejor de Nariño,' which focused on both highlighting producers and fetching higher premiums for their gorgeous coffees. Most of the farms in this part of Colombia are very, very small so it's really quite remarkable to see the logistics line up to bring in these small lots. You can expect to see another 'Mejor' auction coffee in the next month or two!
In the cup Elvia Irene's coffee is bright and fruit-forward, with notes of apricot, orange peel, chocolate-covered almonds. Crisp, lively acidity that dances across the palate with delicate notes of dried fruits.
12 oz / 340 g. Whole bean.
We roast and ship on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Orders placed Thurs through Sunday will roast and ship Monday.
