We have been working with the Aguacate group in Narií±o since the very beginning. The first time we tasted two lots from this producer group the profile was lush and fruity while maintaining a clean coherence. Beautifully composed! This small group of 30 or so producers are all small scale producers growing primarily Caturra at elevations exceeding 1800 meters. The coffees from here have become a mainstay on our menu for their consistent quality.
This year we coordinated with our exporter partner to offer this one exemplary day lot (a single day's picking) from Aguacate producer Mauricio Anganoy. The entire weight of this lot isŒæjust over 60 pounds so this is the most limited coffee we've ever offered. On top of that, our friend Trevor at Bradbury's placed in the top six of the United States Barista qualifier with this coffee! Here it is, available for one roast only.
In the cup you can expect a very raspberry/strawberry fruited sweetness, with a papaya-like acidity and a lingering dark honey finish. This is a beautiful glimpse at the amazing quality these producers are capable of. And also a bit of a logistical wonder to bring 60 pounds to market!
