Rincon is our third release from Guatemala this season and comes from a new relationship we established this year with the Molina family. We have tasted coffees from one of the family's other farms in past years (Finca La Bolsa, which has won numerous accolades and awards). We were very excited to talk with Renardo Vides about the many initiatives going on with his family's farms and to taste through some great micro lots from the farms.
We selected this Rincon lot for our menu because we love its complex, lingering sweetness and vibrant acidity. It was grown at 1625 meters above sea level, harvested first half of Feb, and consists of both Caturra and Bourbon coffees. It is one of those full-package coffees that you can drink all day, versatile enough to brew on espresso, french press or pour over!
Renardo's grandfather, Dr. Jorge Vides, founded Finca La Bolsa in 1958 with a vision to grow quality coffee in the mountains of Huehuetenango. Now, two generations later, they have grown to three farms and have been able to create a business working more closely with roasters. We are excited about all of this, particularly their commitment to sustainability (agricultural, social, environmental) in addition to their laser sharp focus on quality.
