This is a limited release of an AB lot from the Kamwangi factory in Kirinyaga (east of Nyeri, on the slopes of Mt. Kenya between Karatina and Embu). It is grown at 1850m and primarily consists of the SL28 cultivar.
In the cup we find a classic Kenya profile: spicy, dark chocolate, lingering berry notes. We find our brews start off with a bourbon barrel stout sort of presence (chocolate, cherry, clove) and ease into a more delicate array of apple flavors.
This is a very well-balanced coffee that we have personally preferred brewing in Kalita 185 drippers at a ratio of 33g coffee to 500 ml water.
We featured a peaberry lot from the same factory a couple months back and we really enjoy the AB's profile as well!
