Pastor Olcunche has been producing coffee for nearly three decades. He follows in the footsteps of his own father, a coffee farmer with over 2,000 trees. Growing up, he recalls spending his days amidst the fields of coffee, picking cherries. From an early age, Pastor recognized his family's difficult economic situation. Driven by the desire to help, he began secretly collecting coffee beans to sell, and used the money to contribute at home and buy his own things. Despite being reprimanded by his father for this entrepreneurial pursuit, Pastor's determination never wavered.
At the age of 12, Pastor left home in search of work. He landed a job as a farm helper, bringing drinks to the farm workers. It was only due to shortage of labor that he was given the opportunity to pick coffee. Pastor’s pace and skills surprised everyone. Quickly proving himself, he matched the work of the most experienced pickers. With a lot of hard work, determination, and sweat, Pastor saved enough money to buy his own farm, now owning two. This special lot comes to us from Pastor’s farm in Jetsen, Finca El Capricho
Pastor’s dedication to excellence spans far beyond harvesting. Nestled in the heart of Inza, El Capricho spans a remarkable seven Hectares and is a testament to Pastor’s commitment to sustainability. Although he is not obligated, Pastor is committed to producing his coffee using agroecological practices, responsibly managing his organic fertilizers and mineral solutions.
We've been looking forward to roasting this coffee since we first tasted it on the sourcing table. It has very memorable tropical, fruit forward qualities. It’s aroma immediately stood out to us, and we can’t wait to share it with all of you!
